Why is my combine cracking grain?
Usually over-aggressive threshing: rotor speed too high or concave clearance too tight for the crop. Even, well-matched threshing cracks far less grain than forcing material through a uniform setup.
How do I get a cleaner grain sample?
Match your threshing to the crop and verify it with a drop pan instead of eyeballing the tank. Concaves that thresh evenly across conditions hold sample quality without constant readjustment.
What causes trash in my sample?
Uneven crop flow and threshing that overloads the cleaning system. Steadier, more even threshing keeps chaff out of the clean grain.
